CALL FOR APPLICATION • What: Contractual Employment • When: Starting October 8, 2013 • Where: Mindanao; Metro Manila; Cebu City • Who: PeaceTech Inc. PeaceTech Inc. is a not-for-profit organization. We are looking for committed Filipinos to work in the areas of education and community organizing in Mindanao, Metro Manila and Cebu City in a program we are holding in 2013/14. PeaceTech’s objective is to build understanding between Muslim and non-Muslim communities throughout the Philippines. We focus on increasing tolerance among high school levels for the purpose of supporting the Mindanao Peace Process. The method we use to build understanding between high school classes is mainly classroom videoconferencing. Working with the Department of Education, we bridge hundreds of class sections from Mindanao, NCR and Cebu City through class videoconferences so they can learn Araling Panlipunan and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao together. We also extend our impact beyond schools into communities. We do this by bridging parents, teachers and Parent-Teacher Associations through videoconferences in support of the Peace Process. Because we focus our work on secondary students, teachers, and parents, we divide our program into two components. First is the School Program for students, teachers and principals. Second is the Community Program for Parents, and Parent-Teacher Associations. Our openings are for the following positions: 1. Area Coordinator; and 2. Field Officer 1. Area Coordinator City Openings: • Iligan City • Zamboanga City • Cebu City This person is in charge of the School Program and the Community Program in one of the cities listed above. • For the School Program, this person will be responsible for the field officers working in schools • For the Community Program, this person will implement the activities with little assistance from the field officers • This person is responsible for producing reports on the program and implementing PeaceTech’s Monitoring and Evaluation System • The Area Coordinator reports to the Program Manager in Manila Responsibilities in one city include the following: 1. Oversees program implementation 2. Coordinates the Parent Teacher Association videoconferences and Classroom videoconferences 3. Organizes and helps facilitate teacher trainings 4. Liases with DepEd Division Office, PLDT, school heads and partner organizations in the area 5. Holds teacher -focus group discussions and quarterly school meetings and evaluations 6. Supervises and coaches the field officers 7. Completes project reports for the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer in Manila 8. Reviews and consolidates all expenditures for the Administrative Officer in Manila Requirements: • At least 3 years work experience as a project officer for any kind of organization • Bachelor’s Degree in any field • Fluent in written English and the major dialect of the city he/she is applying for • Strong writing skills • Must be willing to live in the city you are applying to work in • Committment to working long days, including the ocassional weekend • Maturity and comfort with taking responsibility • Strong social skills, and confident in meeting with teachers, principals and officials from local government • Ability to manage other people reporting to you • Competent in Skype and proficient in MS Office • Good facilitating skills • Highly organized and very punctual 2. Field Officer School Openings in the following cities: • Cotabato City • Iligan City • Zamboanga City • Cebu City • Manila • Quezon City • Taguig City This person will coordinate PeaceTech’s School Program in one high school so most of the working time will be spent in one school. The person will be responsible for the Classroom Videoconference Program for four high school sections in his or her school. He will also be responsible for the school-based peace clubs where students hold workshops and projects. Responsibilities include the following: 1. Liasing with teachers and school principals in one school 2. Setting up Equipment and Skype in one classroom every day 3. Supporting the teacher faciliate the videoconference for his or her class section 4. Organizing school-based Peace Clubs for high school students 5. Facilitating workshops and projects in the Peace Clubs 6. Helping the Area Coordinator facilitate Teacher Trainings and Focus Group Discussions, which evaluate the Program 7. Basic Project and Financial reporting Requirements • University Degree • Must be willing to live in the city you are applying to work in • Committment to working long days, including the ocassional weekend • Confidence in working with people who are more senior than you, including teachers and school principals • Ease in working with Skype, LCD Projectors and computers • Willingness to carry equipment Assets • Interest in education Interested applicants may email their application to the Program Manager at monicamabaylan@gmail and indicate in the subject line the position and the city being applied for.
