CALL FOR MORAL SUPPORT -- JAKE STRICKLAND AND BABY JACK. As most of you will recall, on December 27, 2013, I filed on Jakes behalf a federal fraud/RICO lawsuit against the biological mother, attorneys involved, their law firm, the adoption agency, and the PAPs. This lawsuit is the first of its kind, that Im aware of, seeking relief under the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organizations (RICO) statute, which is federal law. It does not involved getting custody of Baby Jack -- that matter is still on appeal before the Utah Supreme Court (briefing is nearly completed). This RICO suit seeks monetary damages for the wrongful, unethical, and even fraudulent conduct set forth in the Complaint. To send a clear message to all those who would engage in such conduct, the suit also seeks punitive damages, along with other damages as well, in a total amount of not less than $130 million -- meant to serve as a healthy deterrent to anyone who thinks about being involved in such adoptive placements. All defendants in the case have filed motions to dismiss, essentially claiming that Jake has not sufficiently alleged illegal conduct in his 72-page 293-numbered paragraph Complaint. Tomorrow we file written opposition memoranda to all those motions.
