CALL FOR PAPERS Doc On-line doc.ubi.pt Theme: Documentary and History Deadline: november 15 Journal sections: Thematic Dossier | Articles | Analysis and film review | Readings | Interview | Theses In the Thematic Dossier of Doc On-line n.15 Editors would like to present a discussion on the relations between documentary and History. If the New History set up fiction as its source, even a more legitimate one than documentary, as Marc Ferro has defended, we are driven to consider that non-fiction film has not waited for the advent of the New History to convey interpretations of historical events and characters. Also, documentary is far from obliging itself to seek facts and represent characters in the context of a story purposely recreated for the film. The role of documentary in the development of History is the issue that the Thematic Dossier is dedicated to.
