CALL FOR PAPERS The Emerald Group has a call for educational reform--read below for more information and contact email The Obama Administration and Educational Reform: Toward New 21stCentury Schools for the Global Knowledge Economy Slated release 2014 Eboni M. Zamani-Gallaher, Editor Eastern Michigan University Deadline for Submission: September 30, 2013 Arguably, since the day he was elected, President Barack Obama met great anticipation from scores of Americans regarding the forward course our nation desired economically, socially, and educationally. The realization of greater social and economic mobility is interwoven with access to quality education. The promise of progress and social mobility that millions of U.S. families hope to attain can be unlocked through the educational enterprise. Unfortunately, while the United States educates all children, all children do not receive the same education. Hence, prospects for a better future for many are thwarted from the onset given the inequities in P-12 education. Furthermore, the pendulum is swinging as higher learning is becoming increasingly obstructed for many Americans across income brackets, gender, racial/ethnic backgrounds, abilities, and geographic areas. The Obama Administration and Educational Reform… seeks to situate, problematize, and bring to light the goals, accomplishments, experienced blockades, and disappointments of the Obama administration’s educational policies. Manuscript submissions that provide a critical synthesis of President Obama’s educational reform plans, approaches and influence on the educational policy discourse from early childhood, to elementary and secondary schooling, and postsecondary education are welcome. Topics on educational reform during the Obama Administration should include—but are not limited to: Head Start and Comprehensive School Readiness Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA Effects of NCLB on Student Outcomes Privatizing Public Education Charter Schools and Educational Reform Access and Equity issues in educating English Learners (ELs) See the Call for the full list Manuscript Submission Guidelines: Manuscripts should be formatted in Microsoft Word, double-spaced, and no longer than 10,000 words in length, including references (i.e., range 25-30 pages).
