CALL TO ACTION - Marriage Equality August 25, 2013 Aloha Caucus members and supporters, I am happy to report that at the State Central Committee at this past Saturday’s meeting we passed the same resolution that the Oahu County Committee had passed two weeks ago - calling for a Special Session to pass Marriage Equality. The resolution was passed by unanimous consent!! So quick recap – support for Marriage Equality appears in every platform from the counties to the State and our the Democratic National Committee platforms; the Oahu County Committee and the State Central Committee both have passed resolutions calling for a Special Session to pass Marriage Equality; our ENTIRE Congressional Delegation supports a Special Session to pass Marriage Equality; the majority of Hawaii’s voters support Marriage Equality; AND we have the votes in the Senate and in the House to pass Marriage Equality. What needs to happen next to make Marriage Equality a reality in the Aloha State? While we do have the votes in both Chambers to pass Marriage Equality we do not have a super majority in both Chambers to call for a Special Session. That is why we need Governor Abercrombie to call the Special Session. To help ensure that we get a Special Session we are asking each and everyone of you to reach out to the Governor and ask him to convene a Special Session to pass Marriage Equality in the Aloha State. If you have already done that – MAHALO NUI LOA! Now we need you to you reach out to at least two people and ask them to follow your lead and contact the Governor and ask him convene a Special Session to pass Marriage Equality. Here is the Governor’s contact information: E-mail: [email protected] On-line: governor.hawaii.gov/forms/contact/ Telephone: (808) 586-0034 If you want to do more then we ask that you forward this email to your friends, family members and other supporters of Marriage Equality. We know that those that oppose justice and equality will be coming after our supporters, so please make sure that let your legislators know that we are thankful for their support of Marriage Equality. Here is the link for the all the contact information for every legislator: capitol.hawaii.gov/members/legislators.aspx?chamber=all Remember that only way anything will change is to stand up for things that we believe in. Mahalo nui loa for all your support, Michael Golojuch, Jr. Chair
