CAMBRIAN BRANCH MINUTES OF THE BRANCH MEETING 5th MARCH 2014 WHITE LION HOTEL, MACHYNLLETH Apologies Bob Crow due to appointment commitments. Minutes of the previous meeting It was prop. Ray Gray and sec. Sian Lewis that the minutes be accepted as a true reflection of the previous branch meeting on 31st January 2014 carried unanimously. International Womens Day Jane Hoy and Helen Sandler from Springout gave a short presentation outlining events for Saturday 8th March, at Machynlleth Rugby Club, to mark International Womens Day. Secretarys Report – Colin Rigby Jamie Herbert attended H&S conference and one day training course in Doncater. David Roberts nomination for ATW Company Council sent. Contact – Darren Ireland, Bob Crows office, Dai Holt regarding NR local representation and ATW Company Council regarding Motorised Scooter Policy. Bank account is now active with £889.60 deposited, made up of £858.12 for Branch Management Fund and £31.48 to Branch Political Fund. Payments will usually be deposited in March, June, September and December. Cheque for Colin Rigby for reimbursements £83.28. £50.00 for buffet and £33.28 for stationaryand postage. It was prop. Kate Heath and sec. Ray Gray that the Secretary purchase a laptop and printer for Branch Bussinness carried unanimously. Correspondence ATW Company Council Elections – all posts are open to nominations. It was again prop. Linda Moseley and sec. Gus Roberts that David Roberts be nominated to stand for the vacant post on ATW Fleet Company Council. Carried unanimousley. Zero Tolerance Campaign – Fighting Homophobia campaign outlined. AGM Social Fund – No proposal for donations were forwarded. International Day for elimination of Racial Discrimination on 22 March 2014 was outlined - No proposals for attendance were forwarded. CR advised that anyone wishing to attend should contact him. Delegates for attendance to TUC LGBT conference – No proposals for attendance were forwarded. CR advised that anyone wishing to attend should contact him. TUC Congress Awards – No proposal for nominations were forwarded. Any Other Bussinness Lee Catterall said that Mark Williams MP (Liberal Democrat, Ceredigion) was interested in attending a future Cambrian Branch Meeting. After discussion it was generally felt not to extend an invitation but, in the prelude to a General Election, it could be proposed for The Cambrian Branch to host a Public Meeting, inviting representation from ALL of the political spectrum to highlight policies on the railway industry regarding The Cambrian. James Tobin asked who represented ASC in Aberystwyth, both in the workplace and H&S. CR to investigate and obtain contact details. Jamie Herbert had still not received nomination forms regarding local rep for ATW Fleet Machynlleth. CR advised that he was still awaiting clarification from Darren Ireland. Gus Roberts asked about Pay talks with Lightbridge. John Tilley to investigate. Gareth Edwardss asked why Lightbridge now cap overtime at 50 hours maximum, where it is believed that ATW agree to paying more. It was also discussed wether Depot Cleaners are Safety Critical or in need of PTS. CR to investigate. Steve Shaw Steve thanked the Branch for their invite and nomination for Election of General Grades Committee casual vacancy. He highlighted the threat to over 20,000 jobs in the rail industry due to the McNulty Report. He highlighted that the use of increasing numbers of agency staff in the industry is resulting in safety isuues for both staff and passengers. John Tilley John thanked all present for their hospitality and congratulated the reformation of The Cambrian Branch. He talked about his role within the region and RMT as a whole, highlighting the importance of recruitment and retention of membership. He also highlighted the threats to the industry, urging all members to be ready to protect all jobs within the industry. Next Meetings 7th May 2014 1900hrs. White Lion Hotel, Machynlleth.
