CANON EOS 7D MARK II: Following on from the camera that brought - TopicsExpress

CANON EOS 7D MARK II: Following on from the camera that brought us all into HDSLR video, the successor is finally here. It offers a 65-cross point AF system which is excellent for locking onto your subject. It shoots at 10fps with 31 RAW photos or JPEGs limited only by your card size, making it great for sports. Sporting a 20.2MP sensor it gives excellent images in low light conditions and has a Dual Digic 6 processor. The ISO goes up to 16,000 and when expanded reaches 51,200. VIDEO: It now shoots 1080p video at 60p and features headphone and mic inputs which was much needed by DSLR videographers out there. The AF system speed can also be adjusted for a more artistic focus full. EXTRA FEATURES: The rear screen is 3-in and is a 1M-dot screen high-res screen. Theres also GPS built in with latitude/longitude and a compass bearing. Also theres a new USB 3 port for faster transfers. The card system has been updated to allow SD card as well as the propriety Compact Flash port. SUMMARY: Theres quite a few updates for a body only price of £1,500 as well as an increase in video performance. The extra GPS and AF system are much needed extras too. We feel that Canon has finally caught up with the competition, however I would still much rather invest in a Lumix GH4 instead which shoots 4K video for less money. Although they pioneered the DSLR video scene, the competition already have a strong foothold in the market and we feel that Canon have taken a bit too long to catch up. Who is this camera for? Sports and wildlife photographers or those who arent quite ready to go full frame with the likes of the 5D MK III or 1D MK IV. Is it worth upgrading from the original 7D? For the price, Id have to say no, but if you are a tech geek and absolutely need 1080p video at 60fps, Id personally rather go for the Panasonic Lumix GH4 to be honest - Its razor sharp, has touch screen with multiple AF depth of field and shoots 4K for less money, leaving change in your pocket. Just like Apple, it would appear that Canon have lost the lead in the race they started. youtu.be/fSk2_-FRgpo
