CAPD distributes ration to BPL families on APL price Mir Iqbal (Dailyexcelsior Excelsior Correspondent) Flouting the Government norms on distribution of ration to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, a Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) was caught by locals in a South Kashmir village distributing ration to BPL people at Above Poverty Line (APL) rates. The BPL and Antadaya families of Gudoora in Pulwama district said the Public Distribution System (PDS) storekeeper, Mohammad Yousuf, gave them subsidized ration on APL rates. The villagers alarmed the local Sarpanch who immediately raided the store. Bedar Ahmad Thoker, the Sarpanch, said that the store keeper was distributing food items among Antadaya and BPL ration card holders at APL rates. “On the complaint of locals, I raided the storekeeper and found that all the ration slips of Antadaya and BPL card holders were issued to them, but the ration was given to them at APL rates and five-kilograms less in quantity,” he said. He added that the store keeper was also found violating PDS rules while distributing kerosene oil, sugar among these deserving families. Assistant Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Pulwama, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, said the villagers should approach to his office with proof of misuse of Government ration and assured that action would be taken.
