CAPE COD EVACUTION TELEPHONE SURVEY TO TAKE PLACE FRAMINGHAM, MA – Within the next few weeks, KLD Engineering P.C., in conjunction with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (REPC) and Entergy Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station will be conducting a telephone survey of Cape Cod residents regarding All Hazards Evacuations. This brief survey will lead to enhanced traffic planning for Cape Cod residents in the event of any type of emergency. Over the course of the week of July 8th, KLD Engineering P.C. will be making brief telephone calls to over 4,000 Cape Cod residents asking less than ten questions focusing on the types of circumstances under which they would chose to evacuate, how many vehicles they would utilize, where they would evacuate to, and whether their evacuations decisions would be different if the situation involved an incident at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. The information gleaned from this survey will assist state and local public safety and transportation officials in determining residents’ attitudes towards evacuation and the number of residents who would chose to evacuate Cape Cod under a variety of different scenarios, as well as the development of viable timeframes for the completion of these evacuations.
