CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER REVIEW!!!!!!! Captain - TopicsExpress

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER REVIEW!!!!!!! Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the best all around Marvel movie to date! No question! Does that mean its better the The Avengers? Yes, in most areas. The Avengers had a bit more ramped up action and a better assembly of characters (Duh, its The Avengers). But a comic book movie as a whole, CA: TWS is superior. The story was top notch, borrowing from the acclaimed, award winning comic run, with the same title, written by Ed Brubaker and also borrowing a few plot threads from Secret Warriors. It was an espionage, political thriller and action movie all rolled into one. Incredibly well paced with amazing set pieces and the scene in between were some of the best with exceptional character development, by far Marvels best effort in that department. Chris Evans really has embodied the role as Captain America and more so Steve Rogers. Well past the whole Fish out of water stage, he feels lost; not knowing exactly what he wants to do with his life. Anthony Mackie joins the Marvel family in this installment as Sam Wilson or as some might know him, Falcon. He is one of Caps trusty partner in the comics. They went as far as to have their own series too. Mackie was a wonderful addition. His introduction felt just right; not forced at all. He got plenty of screen time and he held his own in every scene with his fellow heroes. His action pieces were different and refreshing. I cant wait to his him in future Marvel films. Scarlett Johansson was phenomenal as The Black Widow. She was at her best since her debut in Iron Man 2. Marvel really developed her character during the course of this movie. It cemented what she was; a spy that knows how the world really works and what it takes to have it keep spinning. The movie also reminded us that she is human and not one of the Gods she fights along side. It was nice to see her venerable in a few scenes. To round out on the actor front, Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford were phenomenal in their roles as well. Some would assume that Mr Redford would seem like a bad fit for a Marvel movie but he took that role and made his owe. Jackson was great as Fury as always. Also having one of the best and intense action sequences in the movie. The action scenes were Marvels best aside from The Avengers. They were vicious and beautifully choreographed; you felt every punch. It stayed away from The Avengers comic-y action for more of a hyper realism approach. The scenes in between were just as good. The character dialogue were great, the chemistry between the cast was amazing. Of course being in half a dozen movies together did help. Some would say that the best thing this movie did was drastically change the Marvel cinematic universe. I wont give much away but I will say that going forward ramifications from the events in The Winter Soldier will be felt in every Marvel movie for next ten years or more. That, my friends, is excited. This movie was just not a great comic book movie, it was a great movie. Anyone could walk in not knowing a thing about comics and get, enjoy and want to see it again. I give it a ten!
