CAR CARE TIP: Got a vehicle with these symptoms while driving? • Vehicle resets with various indicators (airbag, side airbag, ABS, VSA, etc.) flashing momentarily and no set DTC. • Navigation system (if equipped) reboots. (The display returns to the globe screen.) • Audio cuts out and then comes back on. • DTC P0685 (ECM/PCM power control circuit/internal circuit malfunction) sets. • VSA DTC 61 (low +B-FSR voltage) sets. A bad negative battery cable may be the culprit. To find out, follow these steps: 1. Make sure that the battery is fully charged, then turn the ignition switch to ON (II), with the engine off. 2. Turn on all exterior and interior lights, and apply a full electrical load (for example: turn on the windshield wipers, seat heaters, windshield defroster, rear window defogger; crank up the A/C). 3. Attach the red voltmeter lead to the G1 ground bolt. 4. Attach the black voltmeter lead to the negative battery terminal. 5. Read the voltmeter. The voltage drop between G1 and the negative battery terminal should be between 0.03 and 0.10 volt. If the voltmeter reads more than 0.10 volt, replace the negative battery cable. Then use the HDS to clear the DTCs. (Acura ServiceNews, August 2013)
