CARAMELS 1 cup butter 2 1⁄4 cups packed brown sugar dash salt 1 cup light corn syrup 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Directions In a heavy 3 quart saucepan, melt butter; add brown sugar and salt. Mix well; stir in light corn syrup. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Cook and stir over medium heat until candy reaches firm ball stage (245°F), approximately 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour into buttered 13x9x2 inch pan. Cool; cut into 1 inch squares.
