CARE Zambia’s performance management system is called Annual Performance Agreement and Assessment (APAA). Under the APAA systems, the supervisors and employees jointly agree at the beginning of the fiscal year on a defined set of performance objectives and individual development areas. This agreement results in an assessment of the employees’ performance at mid-year performance review and at the end of the fiscal year. The Individual Operating Plans (IOPs) are established and become part of the APAA form. Here, the CARE Zambia’s HR/Administration/IT department team is brainstorming and working on finalizing the departmental Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and set a foundation for the IOPs. Our Performance Management system is designed to increase accountability for both supervisors and employees in the performance management process.
