CARFAC Ontario and CANVAS Partnering to Take Starving out of Starving Artist CARFAC Ontario has partnered with CANVAS to create an indiegogo campaign with the goal of raising $10,000 to support artists in need of emergency funds. Visual Artists create a wealth of cultural and social value in our communities yet the average artist earns less than $15,000 per year. Financial distress can come quickly putting their professional careers, health and access to essential resources at risk. Canvas exists as a safety net to assist artist with advice, links to services, and financial aid. The idea of the starving artist has existed for too long. Its time we do our part to ensure no artist is starving. What We Need & What You Get Canvas has undergone a strategic review and were now focused on creating a strong base for the Artist Relief Fund. Funds dedicated in this campaign will be used to directly assist Ontario-based visual artists. Our goal is two-fold: (1) Raise awareness of the value artists create, and the challenges they face. (2) Raise $10,000 to solidify our Artist Relief Fund, which will grow over time. As contributors to this campaign weve created a number of perks that we hope connect you to the mission of Canvas, and engage you in learning more about the roleof visual artists in Ontario. Some perks are simple and meant for fellow artists, others are larger commitments intended to engage our art-loving corporate community. Every single contribution is valued and needed. Everyone who contributes will be offered the opportunity to learn more about the Canvas Foundation as we launch our new website, newsletter to share our story and those of the artists we support over time.
