CARIASO: BELIEVE IN THE SYSTEM AND WINS WILL FOLLOW MANILA — Barangay Ginebra did not particularly have an outstanding preseason record but head coach Jeffrey Cariaso understands that losing is also part of the process. I wouldnt say we underperformed, said Cariaso of his teams preseason showing. It really wasnt about the losing record. I firmly believe just through my playing years, the years I was able to be with Coach Tim, you just have to work hard everyday and improve. You stay with your system and continue to believe in it and the wins will follow. Against perennial playoff contenders Talk N Text, Cariasos troops looked like a well-oiled machine as they dominated the battle of the boards 62-50 and had fifteen more assists compared to their opponents. Ginebra clearly was the better team Sunday, registering a 101-81 victory over the Tropang Texters. Tonight we were lucky to get a good performance from one all the way down to fifteen. More importantly, guys who didnt play were supportive and they were cheering each other, Cariaso said. It means that kahit papano our chemistry is improving. Our understanding of what it takes to win is improving. But it must also be noted that Talk N Text played without Gilas players Ranidel de Ocampo and Jimmy Alapag. They dont have Ranidel, they dont have Jimmy but they are still a tough team on paper. I got to give it to our guys for sticking firmly to our game plan and trying to execute. I am happy how we executed not only offensively but also defensively.
