CASTING CALL October 16, 6-8 pm Regent University Communication Building Project: Summer In America Director/Writer: Nick Moon Producer: Crystal Wise Shooting Dates: Oct. 31-Nov. 2 Compensation: Unpaid, non-union Synopsis When Mike, an African-American teenager, is brutally murdered by a white police officer, his best friend Gerald goes on a quest for justice that leads to an explosive and climactic confrontation with the cop. Looking to fill the following roles: Mike Martin: African American, 14-21. Must pass for high school student. A little arrogant and sarcastic, but when it comes down to it an honest young man. Gerald Brown: African American, 14-21. Must pass for High school student. More quiet, reserved; passionate, hipster. Angered at injustice and diligent to correct it. Darren (Cop): Caucasian, 25-50. Physically fit. Angry, violent, prone to emotional outbursts, vengeful, and prejudice. Impulsive and acts on his feelings. Chief Glover: African American, 45-80. Leader. Stately, wise, respectable. Lots of life experience. Caught between regulation and personal feelings. Valerie: 15-21. Intelligent, confident, and compassionate towards Gerald. Also looking for the following extras: 10-20 high school students. Must be over 16. Sitting in classroom. 4-5 African American children, 5-10. Playing in neighborhood (If you are interested in being a child extra, please contact casting director by October 9). Park-goers. Any age, race, and gender. 1-2 dogs. Sitting outside neighborhood.
