**CATCH REPORT** Team Member Steve Tomo Thompson has finally got back out on the bank after a month away. After a disastrous start to his session he did manage to catch a few. Read his full report below, After over a good month away from the bank due to long hours at work, a holiday and then a wedding, I couldnt wait to get on the bank this weekend. The day didnt start off too well with my car breaking down on the way home from work. There was no way that this would stop me going though. I got towed home by the recovery man and somehow managed to get two sets of night gear in my mates car The lake was quite full when I arrived at the syndicate. Having to take a peg towards the deeper side of the lake. The first night passed with just a few single beeps and a big liner. After getting up the next morning, I decided to change my spots and also feed up the right hand margin towards a little reed bed for the evening. The change seemed to have been a good choice when at 10am my left hand rod let out a few beeps. I knew this was enough indication to be a fish as I was fishing locked up. I got to the rod to see it almost bent round double. After a short battle, I slipped the net under a small but very good looking heavily-scaled, pale coloured mirror. Its quite a rarity to have a mirror carp in this lake apparently. It fell to a 14mm Crave bottom bait boilie over half a kilo of freebies. The rig was a 15lb green braided hooklink and a size 8 The Hook. The carp weighed in at 12lb 2oz, and after a few quick pics, she was slipped back into the lake. Not the biggest but it will be an awesome carp in a few years. Definitely one for the future A few liners and fish still showing in the reeds towards the island kept me fishing in my original spots. There was also some reeds knocking and a few bubbles in the right hand margin I had been baiting so I kept trickling in the bait throughout the day. The afternoon passed without much of anything happening. The members were right when they said the lake went quiet when it was full. As the afternoon drew to a close i dropped my right hand rod in the margin i had been baiting all day. I also left my other rod over to the reeds where the scaley mirror came from. As I got my head down for the night, I heard a few bleeps from my alarm. It was the margin rod. As I got to my rod and clicked on my headtorch, I could see that my rod was almost bouncing off my alarm. After pulling into the fish I could feel that it was quite powerful and it took me on a merry chase through the reeds. Luckily they were quite light and I didnt get cut off. I finally got it into the net after it almost wiped out my other rod. I could then see why it was quite powerful. It was one of the long, lean commons in the lake. Not one of the biggest ones in there but the caudal tail on it was huge. It was one of those fish that was not too big to lose its leanness and speed but was still quite powerful. It tipped the scales to 18lb 14oz and fell to a Crave pop-up glugged in the Crave overspray. This was fished multi-rig style using the Stonze system, 25lb Steamlink to a size 8 The Hook The next morning I lost another one down to the right margin but this one did make a break for it into the reeds and cut me off. I had to keep a good watch of it to see if it got tethered up and Id need to get in the boat to free it. Luckily it bolted into open water without any trouble. After re-tackling my rod and fishing for another hour or so, we decided to head home Two fish to the Pallatrax Crave boilies on my first session back after what seemed like an eternity away from the bank. I cant wait to get back already Tight lines Tomo
