CAVANI NEXT ON LIVERPOOL LIST Twenty-four hours after Liverpool were thought to be in the race for Radamel Falcao, the Liverpool Echo link the Reds with a move for another blockbuster striker, Edinson Cavani. With Liverpool apparently beaten to Falcao by Real Madrid, Brendan Rodgers has turned his attention to the PSG forward, who has been the subject of intense speculation this summer. There has been much interest in the player during the last six months, Cavanis agent, Claudi Anelluci, told Uruguayan paper El Telegrafo. I can confirm that Cavani heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal. (Cavani) already said he would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision. He is not interested in money and fame; he just wants to be happy playing football. UNITED WANT BENATIA As well as making a bid for Thomas Vermaelen, Manchester United are reportedly targeting Mehdi Benatia as Louis van Gaal looks to strengthen his back line.
