CCAYEF is an organization that is up to seeing both the girl child and boy succeed in life. We really feel good about all the programs that other stakeholders are implementing in Mukono schools, however to some extent, almost all interventions target the girl child. As we speak, boy children feel left out and not helped, they are presently going out to turn against themselves through giving up on life and education because they feel left out and rejected. They complain about this a lot, and this might lead to having empowered mothers in future with disempowered fathers who cannot even play their fatherly role. I suggest that as we empower girls, we should also give equal opportunity to the boy child, but demystify the taboos and misconceptions in our culture around the girl child that lead to gender inequality and segregation. This will help us have empowered but respectful fathers in future as well as empowered and productive mothers. May be this is the reason men are rejecting their responsibilities today and leaving it to the women who are presently regarded positively and empowered!
