If you fire a gun in Japan you have committed 3 crimes. Number one is possessing it, number two is possessing the ammunition, and number three is firing the weapon. There gun laws are so strict that even gangs dont hardly use them and many Japanese citizens vacation in Hawaii just for the privilege of being able to go to a gun range to fire a gun. Germany has tight restrictions too, so for the author to make this comparison, is way out of line. In the US, most people firmly believe the 2nd amendment is the guarantor of the 1st. There are roughly 60,000 assaults on police officers annually in the united states. There are roughly 12,000 gun homicides annually in the US and the 400 police involved shooting deaths account for about 3% of those 12,000. There are about 12,000,000 arrests annually so non-shooting arrests equate to roughly 99.9% of arrests effected without an individual being killed. We in law enforcement are not perfect and we have our faults and problems, but by and large police officers are firm believers in the 2nd amendment and the right to carry. That is what ultimately will safeguard the US from enemies foreign and domestic. Thanks, J.Jordan No On Three meeting: From NOT leadership... You are invited to our next meeting of NoOnThree. We will meet: Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30 pm Mercato di Rodi on Bloomfield/Silver Springs Cape Girardeau. We need to develop strategies, a timeline and locate resources. We will need people with research capabilities, interest in writing and submitting letters to the editor. We also need to identify people who have connections with educators in different school districts, teachers associations and administrators. Eventually we will need people to help put door hangers on peoples door knobs and maybe the business-card sized flyers for car windows We dont necessarily need everyone to attend meetings if that is not feasible. Plenty of things can be done from home or thru email/texting. Amendment 3 will further shackle teachers, administrators, parents and local school districts at a time when forces are already attempting to nationalize k12 education. If you are able to free up any time at all, we would appreciate your help to defeat this measure. Thank you all for your consideration in this matter!
