Purchase your tickets early to avoid disappointment!! 12 GIRLS Another title in our 125 Year thanks to the U12 girls who defeated Clan na Gael in the Division 2 County Championship on Sunday, 3.07 – 2.05. This was a nail biting game with both teams fighting to the final whistle. The Harps girls dug deep worked hard for every ball and supported each other well throughout the field. The defence were solid throughout the game keeping the Clans scoring to a minimum. There were some excellent performances from our last line of defence, Sorcha O’Quigley, Casey Connolly, Yvonne McCann, and Emily Druse. The two youngest players Casey and Emily stepped up to the plate doing everything that was asked of them. The half back line of Mairead Rice, Tiarna McVeigh and Eimear O’Connor were exceptional, their work rate and effort was second to none. In midfield Megan and Michaela fought tirelessly for every ball sending some excellent ball into the forward line and chasing back at every opportunity. The half forwards Orla O’Kane, Catherine Comiskey and Liddy Bennett worked hard up front and had a tough task to get through a very strong Clan na Gael defence. Some chances were unfortunate enough to come off the cross bar goals but some crucial scores from Orla helped secured the victory. Catherine tracked the side line throughout the game offering excellent support to the midfielders. The full forward line of Aine Rice, Aiveen Grew and Orla McCann worked hard up front. A couple of quick goals from Aine Rice helped Harps to victory. The Management team of Paula Enright, Leo Duffy, Shauna McVeigh and Brenda Gill would like to commend the girls on an excellent team effort and excellent display of football-they did themselves, their club and their county proud- well done girls. Well done to the Management team too- great work!!!! We would also like to thank McShane Packaging and James Clifford Cash Registers for their generous sponsorship this year- it is very much appreciated by both the girls and the Club. SENIOR LADIES The Senior Ladies were unfortunately defeated by Carrickcruppen on Monday past in the semi final of the Championship in Dorsey. The girls where beaten by a very strong Cruppen side but they played well to the final whistle some great performances by Mairead Daly and Leah McGoldrick in the defence helping to keep scoring to a minimum. Harps held out to Carrickcruppen for the first quarter of the game then two Caroline O’Hanlon goals before the end of the half left the Harps chasing the game.
