CENOTE IK-KIL Enjoy one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula. Cenote Ik Kil is located on the highway between Chichen Itzá and Valladolid. Its a crystal clear, round, well-type cenote. This cenote is about 130 feet deep! It is about 85 feet from the surface so you will need to walk down a wooden stairway to reach it. The pool itself is about 60 meters in diameter, and the water is quite deep (around 35 meters). There are vines descending from the top and little water drops constantly flowing from above. There are some black catfish which live on the pool, but dont worry, they don’t bite! Cenote Ik Kil is sacred to the Mayans, whom used this cenote for both relaxation and ritual services. Ik Kil Cenote is part of a larger complex of a restaurant, store, changing rooms, and cottages for rent. There is also a Mayan ruin on the site.
