CERTIFICATE COURSE IN SOLUTION FOCUSED THERAPY (ACCREDITED BY NCFE – A UK QUALIFICATION AWARDING BODY) Duration - 16th November 2013 till 31st January 1014 The course will be conducted through five days of workshops and continuous online training and supervision spread over three months. Solution Focused Therapy is an empowering approach that aims at helping people connect to their strengths, resources, and abilities. It helps them identify their goals and understand what steps they need to take to reach them. The focus is on helping people reach their preferred future through well established tools of SFT like goal setting, miracle question, scaling, exceptions, break and feedback. This course in Solution Focused Practice is delivered jointly between Children First (childrenfirstindia) and Solution Focused Trainers (solutionfocusedtrainers.co.uk), a UK company delivering externally validated training in Solution Focused Practice in the UK. The course is a customised award externally validated by NCFE (ncfe.org.uk) a UK qualifications awarding body, and recognised by the British Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling as continuing professional development for Psychotherapists and Counsellors. The students will receive certificates issued jointly by NCFE, Solution Focused Practitioners and Children First. Course aims The aims of the course are • To increase the knowledge and skills of practitioners to use Solution Focused Therapy in their practice • To provide a more intensive learning experience for practitioners • To make available an externally validated award to those who need this for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development Who is the course for? The course is designed to be of relevance to a wide range of people in the helping professions including counsellors, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, coaches or people who have received prior training in Solution Focused Approach. As the training will be very intensive the size of the training group is restricted to 10 participants only. Course Structure During the time of the training students are helped to take learning from the course into their practice through: • Five day intensive training with the faculty spread over three months • Participation in a Moodle forum (an online forum) throughout the course where the participants can engage in discussions with other students and the course tutor. • A Practice log, which helps the students to notice and record uses of the approach in practice. • Assignments including case study assignment, which are designed to encourage reflection in action and reflection on action. • Video Recording of an interview by every student • A written reflection • Five minute presentation by the students on the Solution Focused approach • Upon registration students will be provided with a Student Handbook with a comprehensive reading list and access to key papers through an on-line educational platform. Supervision would be carried out through: 1. Self supervision through maintaining a learning log and practice log during the training period 2. Feedback on videos and role play 3. Feedback on the case assignment 4. Feedback on the presentation 5. On-line support via Moodle 6. A buddy system so that each student has another student he/she can turn to for support (in UK) Dates for the Workshops 16th & 17th November 2013 (Day 1 & 2) 21st December, 22nd January (Day 3 & 4) 15th January (Day 5) Timing: 10.00 am to 5.00 pm Venue: Children First, A 2/35 Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi -29 Registration Fees: Rs 50,000 - cash & cheque only.
