CFA (Country Fire Authority) This Advice message is being issued by Country Fire Authority for Creightons Creek, Gooram, Longwood East, Old Longwood, Ruffy. Fire conditions have now abated due to work done by crews and favourable weather conditions, however the fire is still not under control. Crews, supported by aircraft and heavy plant, will be remaining in the area monitoring the situation and working to contain hot spots. Trees impacted by fire present an extreme risk to all persons in the area. Work by the Strathbogie Shire crews on clearing hazardous trees along major road in the fire area is expected to take several days. It is likely that Creightons Creek Road will be open late Friday. Secondary roads will have high risk of falling trees over the next few days until resources can assess and deal with them. DEPI Agricultural crews are also in the area assisting with stock assessment. Fencing loss is significant and stock and wildlife maybe be wandering along roadsides. Whilst Traffic Management Points remain in place for the general public, residents that have been affected by the fire are now able to access the area. Residents need to be aware that there are still emergency service vehicles within the area and that includes heavy machinery such as excavators that are clearing hazardous trees along affected raodsides. Drivers are urged to drive slowy and be aware of the road conditions. There is currently no threat to communities, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions as the fire is not yet contained. The situation will continue to be reviewed. Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads.
