CFL OFF-SEASON GRADES To CFL fans outside Saskatchewan , that stylized S on the side of green helmets stand for the Roughriders. Inside the province it stands for even more. It stands for Scrutiny and Stress as the Roughriders are constantly under the microscope. Never was the scrunity and stress more evident that in 2013. The team had a home Grey Cup to play in and win. They did exactly that, earning Cory Chamblin a four-year contract extension. An extension well-earned. Now the hard part---repeating. And repeating without a pair of their cornerstones from 2013. Receiver Weston Dressler and running back Korey Sheets have elected to try their luck down south. Their departure leaves big holes to fill. We also cant forget the fact defensive gadfly Craig Butler jumped to Hamilton. Despite those losses, Saskatchewan still has Darian Druant at quarterback. He has moved into the upper tier of league quarterbacks and is in a good position to solidify his standing with another good year. The team has a good offensive line and displayed a stout defense. The return of PK Chris Milo gives the team a solid performer in that crucial area. BOTTOM LINE---Saskatchewan has been hard hit by defections this off-season. However, this is a deep team that will again be in the middle of the chase for the Grey Cup. Saskatchewan has appeared in four of the last seven Cups, winning two. Theyve become a leage power and intend to keep it that was in 2014.
