*** CGE AUCTION ITEM SPOTLIGHT *** Over the years at CGE there have been three Vectrex prototypes released. In 2000 the previously unreleased Tour De France was sold in a VHS-style box complete with manual. It’s unknown how many copies of Tour De France were made. In 2002, the Paul Allen Newell game Cube Quest was released in both boxed and loose cartridge versions. The loose cartridge version was essentially unlimited but the number of boxes printed for the game was around 200. Lastly, in 2007 the long-rumored Vectrex baseball game Pitcher’s Duel was released in three versions. There was the standard gray loose cartridge, a boxed grey cartridge complete with manual and finally the special edition which came with a translucent green cartridge in a box with the manual. Roughly 250 boxes were printed for Pitcher’s Duel. All three of these games have been out-of-production since the shows the debuted at. There were a few copies of Cube Quest left after CGE 2002 and we will be bringing ten of them to sell this year at the show. We’ve also located a few leftover copies of Pitcher’s Duel and we will be bringing seven of them to the show. Both of these titles are rarely offered for sale even on eBay. The translucent green shell version of Pitcher’s Duel was only ever sold at CGE and we will be bringing ONE COPY to the show that will go in the auction this year. The green one is limited by both the number of boxes printed AND the number of green cartridge shells manufactured. Neither the box nor the green shells will ever be made again! This is the LAST COPY of the special edition we have been able to find.
