CGMA Career Path from ICMA, Bangladesh :-) :-) We are living in Bangladesh as a part of the globe. This is the era of Globalization. Accounting profession is the global profession than any other profession. IFAC, CAPA, SAFA like other associations of the accountants has been formed in the globe to say a single voice for the accounting language. During last two years, information communication technology has been changed significantly. Digital communication made the world united. The geographical disparity between urban and rural, male and female empowerment, rich and poor is in the verge of abolition. Under the blessings of digital communication, we feel we are no more separate from each other irrespective of location we stay. Business scenarios and strategy has also changed. Service sector has been expanded tremendously. In view of the above, value addition to accounting education nationally and globally is found more than any other education. The biggest accounting body is IFAC and ICMAB and ICAB from Bangladesh became the founder member of IFAC since 1977. ICMAB has been providing CMA qualification since 1977. Till now CMA qualification is a local degree from Bangladesh but an opportunity to get CGMA qualification has been opened for CMAs from ICMAB due to an MOU has been signed between ICMAB and CIMA, UK on November 10, 2014. So, now onwards, ICMAB students can avail CGMA designation going through ICMAB qualification staying in Bangladesh. The prime objective of the MOU is to bring the ICMAB qualification to world class standard and will have a premium brand in Bangladesh. CIMA will provide technical support to ICMAB to re-design its course curriculum and examination system as per CIMA standard. The entire education and examination would be offered and conducted by ICMAB independently under the guidance of CIMA, UK. One of the purposes of the program is to build talent capacity to support economic growth of Bangladesh. Under the MOU, ICMAB Fellow members will have to appear only integrated case study exam and ICMAB Associate members will have to appear only two subjects in the strategic level with integrated case study exam to get CIMA Associate membership and to become CGMA. ICMABs existing students may also migrate to CIMA program with credit transfer facility to get the dual qualifications. CIMA will charge concessionary examination fees from ICMABs students. ICMAB and CIMA, UK - both institutes will work together for the co-branding of management accounting profession in Bangladesh.
