CHAPTER 2c Sharon was rushed to the ER where doctors rushed to take the child out right after her surgery to stitch up the stab wound. When they induced labor it was not one but three babies. Sharon was carrying triplets the whole time. Her parents were never notified about the accident or the birth of the babies so they never came to the hospital. Sharon was but a little thing at fifteen when she became pregnant. Four feet even, weighing only seventy-two pounds. Two of the boys were very healthy, but the third was wounded when the knife pierced Sharons stomach and the tip lodging into his neck. Doctors said he would never live past a month old even if she wanted to keep him on machines that long. On day three when Sharon was released, she left with the twins and never looked back. If asked today she would tell you she never knew what happened to her third son, as Christiana Hospital never called her after she checked out. When she arrived home she took the boys into the nursery that she had previously set up for them and thats where she cared for them. She never kept the appointment with her sister so money was running out fast. She made a call to Denise explaining everything to her. Denise had done all the necessary paperwork and all the transfers had went through but was on hold pending Sharons signature. She met up with Denise on her first available free day and got all the paperwork signed. Well now that thats all taken care of how soon will I have access to the money. Sharon asked her sister. That will take some time. What do you mean, some time? What Steven had in his estate was $1.75 million that was in a trust fund that will be transferred to your trust fund, and as far as your trust fund goes it will not be turned over to you until you have graduated high school and completed two years of a four year college. But I need money now. I have the boys to take care of. Sharon says as she starts to get angry. Boys? What boys? Denise asked. I went into labor. Sharon said. I had twins. Thats why I never met up with you. Denise sits back in her chair taking all this in. Does Mom and Dad know about this? No, I havent been over there yet. What about your phone, why havent you called them? Listen, I just been depressed thats all. I will stop by the house just as soon as get things sorted out. Soon I hope. Its been weeks and they are worried sick about you. I guess youll tell them you saw me and that Im ok. Are you really ok? You look like shit. Sharons stomach started aching her and it showed she was getting a bit uncomfortable sitting in the chair she sat in. Denise didnt know about the accidental stabbing or the surgery so she assumed Sharon was just irritable. So what am I suppose to do about money... finances? I have bills to pay now. I guess when you act grown and irresponsible you have to do the next most responsible thing. What in the hell is that suppose to mean? Sounds like some shit from a fortune cookie. Watch your language in my presence, in my office young lady. Oh so now its young lady? I guess Im just another account to you huh? Look Sharon, go see Mom and Dad for help, meanwhile get back in school and see if you still have at least one of your jobs. If I can I will help out with the children, but you cant just... You know what, Im not feeling to well right now, so I gotta go. Thanks for all your help and an even bigger thanks for keeping my money all this time and planning to keep it indefinitely. Sharon gets up out the chair and almost falls over from pain shooting through her nerves into her stomach. She pauses for a brief moment and then slams the door as she leaves. She gets out to her car and sees Sammy getting out of his car. She blows the horn and waves him in her direction. She reaches in her purse and and grabs her Percocet 15s and takes two of them washing them down with a RedBull. Sammy walks up to the car. Hey girl. How you been? He asks her. I been good, I mean after all that Hans been happening in the last several months. I know, I know. Where you been, nobody has seen you around anywhere? Just home, thats all. You know I had twins too. Congratulations, Steven would have been thrilled... Im sorry Sharon, I didnt mean to say that out loud. Its ok, look I gotta go get back to them. You can stop by any time to see them if you want. Oh yeah. No doubt. Ill come by this weekend, Im off work then. Hows Saturday sound? Saturday is perfect, see you then. Ok then later. Ill holla. Sharon starts the car and pulls off as Sammy walks toward the bank. She gets to the house and the front door was wide open. She walks in and there was Stephanie who she paid to watch the boys and these two other girls Sharon wasnt really fond of. They used to live over south on B Street when they where kids. Never went to church and would hang out in the park smoking cigarettes and drinking wine coolers. Now they smoke weed and drink Paul Masson all day every day. Sharon didnt cause a scene, at this point she didnt really care, she had a bunch of other things on her mind. Hey girl. Stephanie said as Sharon walked in. Sorry about the company, I was getting a little bored and asked my girls to come hang out with me until you got back. Hope thats ok. Sharon gave both the girls a look over like the sight of them was going to make her vomit. The one girl named Stacy said to Stephanie and the other girl Rhonda that maybe they should go. Sharon seen the joint Rhonda was holding. Was you going to light that? She asked Rhonda. You damn straight I was... oh I didnt mean in the house if thats what you were asking, not around the boys. We was out back blazing. Oh no, yeah yeah I understand. Sharon said. I asked because I wanted to take a few drags of it. Oh girl this shit right here is that buss head. You think you can handle this shit? Light it up and lets see. Sharon never asked where or how the boys were. She was in pain and just needed something to take the edge off so she could relax. The boys are upstairs in their room asleep. I fed them and hour ago and they have been asleep now for about thirty minutes. Said Stephanie, trying to sound like a good babysitter. Thank you Steph. Sharon said softly as she reached in her pocket and handed her the agreed upon $20.00. You been a big help. Anytime. Said Stephanie. The four girls went out back on the deck to smoke. Sharon got a biz quick, and was giggling like a little school girl that heard a hilarious joke, but it wasnt all laughter as thoughts of Steven entered her mind the laughs turned into tears fast. Then she would stop almost on que and just bust out laughing her ass off. The girls thought this shit was a trip and one said forget this shit man. She blowing my high. So the girls decided to roll out. Hell, the weed was finished anyway. Sharon went up to the nursery to check on the boys and they were sound asleep. It was only 4pm, but babies sleep alot for long periods of time too. Sharon decided to lay down and take a quick nap. She slept for hours that seemed like only minutes when she was awaken by the sound of one of the babies crying. She jumped up and rushed into the nursery. She saw one child was still asleep and the one that was crying she quickly picked him up and comforted him. He quieted down as she went down to the kitchen and prepared a bottle of formula for him. Sharon was so out of it that she nosed of for a few minutes that felt like seconds to her. She turned off the pot of boiling water and took the bottle out of the pot and let it sit on the counter. She sat at the table and rocked the baby for a few as he fell asleep in her arms. She stood up and got the bottle and went back up to the nursery. She sat in a rocker with the child and stuck the bottle into his mouth. He started sucking right away and stop instantly. Jerking his head away. He started whaling loudly and then as if he was out if breath and trying to catch it he broke out in a loud scream, crying uncontrollably. Sharon checked the bottle and it felt warm to the touch. She sprinkled a little on her wrist and it burnt the shit out of her. DAMN. She yelled out. The formula was scorching hot. She took the child and ran down to the kitchen. Opening the freezer and grabbing a piece of ice, she put it to his lips and slipped it into his mouth. As that piece melted she repeatedly kept getting ice until the child had quieted down again. She checked his mouth to find the root of his mouth and tongue had blistered up. Sharon was scared to take the child to the ER, in fear that DFS would get involved and she would lose her children. She cooled the formula down and gave it to the child. He sucked the bottle falling asleep and that made Sharon feel a little relieved. When the bottle was empty she got up and changed his pamper then went down and made a second bottle. She checked to make sure the bottle was ok, and went back upstairs. She picked up the other child and sat in the rocker and gave him his bottle. After feeding him, she quickly changed his pamper and laid him right back down next to his brother. She slid the rocker over and walked over to the book shelf and grabbed a children nursery rhyme book. She sat in the rocker and read to them, the entire book of forty nursery rhymes and short stories. This was just the beginnings of a long trial Sharon will have to endure raising twin boys on her own at such a young age.
