CHAPTER 83 V1 -18 speaks about a prayer for the destruction of Israel’s enemies. Note (v14) Jer. 11: 19, 31; 36, (v6) 2 Chr. 20: 1, (v9) Num. 31: 7, Judges 7: 22, Judges 4: 15-24, 5: 20, 21, (v10) Zeph. 1: 17, (v11) Judges 7: 25, Judges 8: 12 – 21, (v13) Is. 17: 13, Job 21: 18, Is. 40: 24, Jer. 13: 24, (v14) Ex. 19: 18, Deut. 32: 22, (v18) Ex. 6: 3, Psalm 83 offers an initial petition (v1) expresses his lament (v2 -8) and then renews his petition for the Lord’s intervention (v9 – 18) citing both His deliverance in the past (v9 -11) and His reputation at stake in the present crisis ( v16 – 18).
