CHARLIE HEBDO PROTESTS: Protests against the publishing of Islamic caricatures by French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo took place across Karachi, Pakistan, on Friday, as members of the Islamic community condemned the publication. Protests outside the French consulate turned violent as police clashed with members of the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT). According to reports, water cannon was used to disperse protesters who had earlier thrown projectiles at police. Three people were reported to have been injured and several were detained.
