#CHEAP POLITICS BY MUNYA TO SEEK FOR SYMPATHY VOTES# a section of the women from Meru County Assembly have threatened to strip publicly in a week’s time over an alleged insult by one of the male MPs from the region. The women said they were angered by sentiments made by Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi at a press conference in Nairobi saying it was an insult to them as mothers. They now want him to publicly apologise or else they will mobilise women leaders from all the nine constituencies in the county to strip naked and demand a public apology. Addressing journalists in Nairobi last week, Mr Aburi was quoted in a section of the media saying: “Mr Peter Munya should know that Meru County does not belong to his mother.” Speaking to journalists at a Meru hotel, the women county reps further threatened to hold county demonstrations against Mr Aburi. “We are angered by Mr Aburi’s remarks and are asking him to apologise or else we will take to the streets. The constitution recognizes the important role the women play in the society and the time for degrading us to such levels is just unrealistic and unacceptable,” said nominated member Margret Ntongai.
