CHECKPOINT NETS ARRESTS On the 31st December 2014, the Austin Police Department conducted increased patrol and a safety check point. The check point was conducted at the intersection of Main Street and Highway #367N. During the course of the check point which was conducted between 10:00pm and 2:00am, the Officers checked a total of 263 vehicles. A total of 5 citations, 3 arrest warrants, and 1 DWI arrest were made. Arrested for DWI was 25 year old Brett Gilliam of Beebe. Chief Jim Kulesa related the Officers did a great job and the response from the public was very positive and supportive. I was a bit surprised of the volume of traffic which came through our city.
