CHEE HEE!!! :) :) :) SOOOO HAPPY!!! After about 4 years of research & pounding pavement, countless interviews, hours spent in the dregs of state archives, various wild goose chases & amazing new friendships: IVE FINALLY COMPLETED THE VERY FIRST DRAFT of my tentatively titled book Pasties in Paradise: A Peek at Hawaiis Burlesque & Stage Show History! Soooo much more to do & still a long road to go but STOKED for a meeting with a great local publishing house next week!! Ive always been a history buff but working on this project has really reinforced to me how important it is to remember the people who came before, especially because these stories and their owners are rapidly being lost to time and NEED to be recorded! As a lifelong dance fanatic, and a burly girlie with some experience I really treasure the stories of all of the dancers, musicians, performers, promotors and club owners that contributed to Hawaii being one of the most interesting, storied & dynamic places to see a SHOW! People like: Tempest Storm, Lili St Cyr, Ball of Fire, Lin Loo, Miss Wiggles, Little Egypt, Judy Garland, Joe Lewis, Screamin Jay Hawkins and countless others all graced Hawaiis stages and left behind some HISTORY! I cant wait to share all of these amazing photos, articles, artifacts & SUPER crazy stories with yall!!! Ive said it before and Ill say it again: Hawaii no ka oi! Xo
