CHEF Every now and then a very under-rated film hits the big - TopicsExpress

CHEF Every now and then a very under-rated film hits the big screen and is usually missed by the majority of the populous for its lack of death, killing, blood, and big Hollywood special effects. I say this because I am one of 2 whom I know have seen this amazingly good little independent film, directed, staring, and written by Jon Favreau, a very talented man indeed. Carl Casper is at the top of his game, or so he thinks. He works in one of the most well established restaurants in Los Angeles where he has been Executive Chef for 10 years he has cooked the finest menu for some of the finest people, then one night he gets reviewed… The same person that shot him to the top 10 years earlier saying how great Carl was has now back flipped and torn him down saying he is bland and without any imagination. This leads to a meltdown which in turn leads to Carl quitting his job and taking up a food fan selling some of the best Cuban sandwiches imaginable from one side of the USA to other along with his son Percy and ex Sioux Chef John Leguizamo and a little encouragement from his ex-wife Sofia Vergara and her ex-husband Robert Downey Jr. Chef is a story focusing on a few things, a few which are very close to my heart which could explain why I loved it so very much. Firstly it’s a film about being who you are, not letting the man step on you, being free to create and imagine what you want and bring it to life anyway you know how. Secondly it’s a story of a father reigniting his relationship with his son, learning who he is at the same time as learning who the young man is his son has become. It’s a film about following your passions in life damn the consequences. Jan Favreau has done such an amazing job with this independent film, some of the best music, finest acting especially by Emjay Anthony who plays Percy; his son. I loved this film from beginning to end, the food looked fantastic and the story was told in such a whimsical way you can do nothing but enjoy it. I employ you, if you are a fan of fine storytelling minus the Big Hollywood effects and you love a heartfelt film see this one, you will not be disappointed. 4/5 BanShee screams X
