CHICAGO/PHILLY connection Edgewater Coming to Chicago from Philadelphia I was always intrigued by the street names on the north side specifically in the Edgewater neighborhood. Ardmore, Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, Wayne even Devon. These are all main line suburbs of Philadelphia. Turns out a developer from Philly John Lewis Cochran in 1885 designed and built the Edgewater community naming the streets from his hometown area. I knew there was a strong affinity between Philly and Chicago. There you have it. BTW Devon should be pronounced devin not deeevaughn!
