CHIP AND A PUTT The Wingham Golf and Curling Club welcomed summer this past week with open arms. Like most golf courses in the area the club is looking forward to more ideal golfing conditions. Tuesday June 18th the ladies had close to 40 gals hit the links throughout the day. Stacey Boyd was winner of the longest putt while Sylvia Pewtress took home the closest to the pin award. The Wednesday senior men saw 24 golfers on a great golfing morning. Bill Brown went away with low gross followed by Ross Peacock second and Doug Vanderwoulde third. Ray Walker was winner of closest to the pin with Ed Daer taking low net shooting 39 as well as longest putt. The Thursday night men had 74 golfers out to enjoy a beautiful night for a round of golf and a few bubbles on the patio. Dave Gamble was the big winner for the night with both a closest to the pin award , a longest putt as well as tying Don Edgar for low net with a solid 37. Other winners were closest to the pin Russ Danbrook and Doug Vanderwoulde and longest putts Bill Kerr, Trevor Hopf, Doug Long and Wayne Gordon. The hidden score winners were Jason Goodall, Scott Helder, James Elphick and Ken Mathers. Saturday June 22nd the club was pleased to host a group of golfers from the Driftwood camp ground. The 40 golfers enjoyed a 9 hole alternate shot scramble. This coming week from July 1st – 5th the club is looking forward to close to 50 smiling children hit the course as the annual golf camp will be held.
