CHIPSTER Thought For The Day; As I type this out I have potatoes frying on the stove top. Makes me think of a Saturday morning in spring of 1980 when Lori Jo was living with me at my moms and I came home from work to a 4 course breakfast. I remember our life long neighbor, Chet Hunter, commenting that something sure smelled good coming through our kitchen window. I felt a lot of pride knowing I had something someone else admired. While Im fryin the taters Im looking out the kitchen window at the beautiful autumn leaves drifting down in the stiff breeze. Im looking forward to having breakfast ready for my wife, my gift from God of a woman, friend and companion. I, in this moment, see all things that are good. After Jesus had been disappointed at the Last Supper, betrayed and tempted at The Mount of Olive, scourged and condemned by man to die, He was led away only to have the mockery and abuse continue. They fashioned a crown of thorns and forced it on His Head. In that moment Jesus had more than a crown of thorns on His mind. He was dealing with EVERYTHING. Maybe that made enduring his torture more tolerable, being distracted by the emotional and mental anguish for not only Him, but His Father being disrespected and mocked. Like every whip laid across His Back, every drop of spittle directed at His Sacred Face, and every piercing thorn driven into His Holy Head our sins command the outpouring of His precious Blood. Would any random act of kindness on our part result in a soldier missing Jesus Back? A simple sacrifice of being considerate to someone we find it hard to like deflect the phlegm aimed at Him? Thinking of our blessings and wanting to share them with those who have less or nothing at all actually remove a single thorn from Jesus Sacred Head? What do you think? The THIRD SORROWFUL MYSTERY, The Crowning of Thorns.
