CHOGM proceeds ahead amid war crime allegations. The international event has produced every political group in the island with a new topic, either to fuss over or to boast about. While the regime demonstrating adventurous scenes of confrontation with the International Powers, its admirers, still the vast majority, seem to have thrilled by the performance. Possessed with enthusiasm, their burdens forgotten for a while, they once more find themselves ready to grant a common amnesty for every other fault regime so far had committed elsewhere. The main opposition, in their turn to exploit the opportunity, has chosen as usual the worst way: to back western powers to promote much disputed war crime issue, as a strategy of gaining active international support against the regime, obviously inspired by the examples of Arab Spring. Sadly, what it does not comprehend is that fundamental question behind its long failure is not indeed the leadership factor, which is just a technical question, but its policy of senseless sabotage, which obviously look disagreeable to the average citizen. The regime has enough faults to its discredit elsewhere, but certainly not in the sphere of war-crimes. For, every war, more or less, does cost certain amount of human lives. In comparison to recent US – NATO campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya, the Sri Lankan war against terrorism had been more ethical and more professional. The CHOGM therefore is not just an expensive function that country’s exhausted economy hardly could sustain on, but also a platform to uphold country’s dignity as a sovereign state against challenge from the western powers, who regards the Eelam state as a second Israel-a Promised Land- where the already troublesome Tamil population of their own countries could be resettled at...Perhaps it needs little brains to understand that sabotaging the CHOGM to discredit the regime in the end means throwing off stones from the glass-houses... Should the regime needs be changed, let us use the ballot paper at next election, but the question is to whom should we vote then ????
