CHRIS ALEXANDER REPLIES TO DRs SHEIKH AND CAUDARELLA: After weeks of refusing to meet with the doctors of the CDRC, Immigration Minister Chris Alexander finally garnered the courage to reply to the Huffington Post Op-Ed by Drs Sheikh and Caudarella (on Twitter), stating that the patient that the good doctors boasted about treating was not a refugee, or immigrant and that they were clearly lost. Lost? There is something truly tragic and Shakespearean about Mr Alexander-a true, gutless mediocrity blinded by his ambition and ideology, and his white, male privilege. And he completely missed the point-there was no hubris in their story-just perplexity. All of us, who treat refugees, immigrants,non-status persons and the poor, in our practices, cannot fathom how far Canada has fallen-morally, ethically, globally-and how the Harper government has systematically destroyed the fabric of a once-great society, using the most vulnerable as targets for their misguided ideology. Boasting? I challenge Mr Alexander to account for the $600 million that he claims the Harper government has saved with its racist, exclusionary immigration policies. SHAME.
