CHRISTMAS IN JULY I dreamed of trees with lights all aglow and Christmas packages with red and green bows. Of blistering winds and white driven snow, even glistening, long icicles to give us a show. It is hot and steamy yet the ground is still dry. We just finished celebrating the 4th of July! While I was sleeping, Christmas came to my mind. Why now, I wondered, was it Christmas I pined? Was it the climate? I love the cold weather. Or was it the presents we wrap, then unteather? We say, “Birds of a feather flock together.” Maybe it’s the thought of the family we gather. Perhaps I can see, now that I’m awake, It was not the gifts or the decorations I make, not the snowmen I build or the Red Velvet cake, nor the family and friends, for advantage I take. December’s “Reason for the Season” quickly came to my mind. Surely this is why Christmas, in my dream was defined. No matter the month, there’s time to remind myself and others, Eternal Life we can find. Christ loved us so much, He came down to Earth taking form as a human, a lowly babe at birth. He was humble and tiny, very little of girth, infused with God’s Glory, full of any and all Worth. God knew He would sacrifice His only begotten Son. Sufficient in Grace, each surrendered a ton. The Son left His Throne and did willingly run to the Cross on a hill to say, “It Is Done!” So deep, so rich this Love was be bestowed, much more than one could ever have known. Not even His mother, with her cries of whoa, could see the heavy burden of sin He did tow. Christ’s story did not start with Him as a babe, nor did it begin at 33 years of age. Not in the Garden, where for life He did crave. It did not begin when He rose from the grave. Satan hoped the death of the cross would lend to him Christ’s descension and on him we’d depend. He cried aloud, “NO!” as they saw Christ Ascend. The Life of God’s Son has no beginning or end. The story of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, also known as History, began before there was a beginning and could only end after His Never-Ending Love. He IS The Alpha and Omega the Beginning and …. THE END!
