CIRCULAR Kind Attn: Heads of Schools Sub: IXth Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2013 – Organised by Ministry of Power and Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India Prizes (Preference for Students from Govt. School of Rural Areas) Level First Second Third Consolation State/UT – Cat ‘A’ & ‘B’ ` 10,000/- ` 8,000/- ` 5,000/- 10 nos of ` 1,000/- each National - Category ‘A’ ` 1,00,000/- 4 nos of ` 50,000/- each 8 nos of ` 25,000/- each 10 nos of ` 10,000/- each 10 nos of BEE Prizes of ` 10,000/- each National - Category ‘B’ ` 1,00,000/- 2 nos of ` 50,000/- each 3 nos of ` 25,000/- each 6 nos of ` 10,000/- each The Ministry of Power in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency has launched the National Awareness Campaign 2013 in order to promote energy conservation in the country. Painting competition on energy conservation has been included as one of the activities of the campaign, which would not only make aware the students about the need of conserving energy but at the same time would educate and involve their parents as well in the above cause. The painting competition on energy conservation is being held since the year 2005 in three stages, namely, School, State and National Level. In 2012, around 30.90 lakh students from various parts of the country participated in the painting competition, which is an all-time record in the history of this painting competition. The winners of the national level painting competition were felicitated by Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee on National Energy Conservation Day on 14th December, 2012. Eligibility: In order to strengthen the campaign, higher classes of 7th, 8th and 9th standards are also being included from this year onward in addition to existing classes of 4th, 5th and 6th Standards. Students of 4th, 5th & 6th standard students under Category ‘A’ and for 7th, 8th & 9th standard students under Category ‘B’ are eligible to participate in the competition. Prizes and Certificates for Schools: Attractive Cash prizes worth Rs 33,000 for each Category per State/UT (Rs.23.10 lakhs for 35 States/UTs) will be distributed to state level winners on 12th November, 2013. For winners of National Competition, cash prizes worth Rs.10.35 lakhs for both the Categories are proposed to be awarded on 14th December, 2013, which is also celebrated as National Energy Conservation day in the presence of eminent dignitaries holding very high positions in the Government. All the participating students, whose lists have been forwarded to State/UT Nodal officer, will be issued a “Certificate of Participation” by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India. School level Competition: Principals are requested to organize a Painting Competition of 2 hours duration in their schools for students of 4th , 5th & 6th standard students under Category ‘A’ and for 7th, 8th & 9th standard students under Category ‘B’ on any working day. Children can select any one of the following topics for the Painting Competition: Category ‘A’ Category ‘B’ Save Money – practice energy conservation Energy Conservation – A Vision of the Future Bijli Bachao, Har Ghar main Prakaash Lao (Save Electricity, Illuminate every home) Energy Conservation is the foundation of Energy Security. Save one unit a day, Keep power cut away Energy Efficiency is a Journey not destination After the completion of painting competition, School Principal may select two best paintings along with information on the total no. of participants, percentage participation of students in both Categories i.e ‘A’ & ‘B’ ( as applicable) and send them to the address of the Nodal Officer ( list attached) of their respective State/UT before 7th October, 2013. The back page of the paintings should carry the following information: Name of the student Father’s/ Mother’s Name Standard Roll No. School name and postal Address Govt. School in Rural area (Write Yes or No) State/ UT School Tel. No./Mobile No Signature of School Principal The list of state wise Nodal officials and scheme is also available at bee-india.nic.in and energymanagertraining State level Competition: The committee of experts will select up to 50 best paintings each for Category ‘A’ & ‘B’ out of the total numbers of the paintings sent by the respective School Principal of the State/UT and selected students will be invited at a designated place for State level on-the -spot painting competition of 2-hour duration on 12th November 2013. The selected students will be paid Rs. 1000/- each in cash by the Nodal Officer on the day of their participation at State level painting competition. Their travel expenses will also be reimbursed as prescribed in the scheme. The Committee of Experts/Jury of the two categories of that particular State/UT will select 13 best paintings for respective Categories separately with preference to students from Govt. Schools of rural areas on the day of competition itself for the following prizes: S.No Prize Category ‘A’ Category ‘B’ i First Rs 10,000/- Rs 10,000/- ii Second Rs 8,000/- Rs 8,000/- iii Third Rs 5,000/- Rs 5,000/- iv Consolation (10 nos) Rs 1,000/- Rs 1,000/- National level Competition: The first, second and third prize winners of Category ‘A’ of the each State/UT level painting competition along with their guardian will be invited to Delhi to participate in the National Level Painting competition of 2 hours duration on 12th December, 2013 and results will be announced on 14th December, 2013. Only paintings of 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners of State Level Painting Competition of the Category ‘B’ from each State/UT will be evaluated at Delhi by a Committee of Experts/Jury nominated for their selection for National level prizes. Boarding & Lodging, to & fro sleeper class / AC Chair Car / 3rd AC rail-fare or State Roadways bus fare by the shortest route for 105 participant and two guardians per participant of Category ‘A’ and 12 winners of Category ‘B’ along with one guardian per participant will be reimbursed. In addition, each participating student will be paid a sum of 1000/- as incidentals and given a participation certificate. The Selection Committee/Jury will select 23 best paintings/posters for Category ‘A’ for the following prizes: S.No Prize No. of Prizes Amount(Rs.) The active participation of schools in this national activity will be helpful in sensitizing and educating school children, parents as well as teachers regarding the importance of energy conservation that would go a long way in carrying forward the energy conservation movement in the country. -------
