CITY OF DALLAS / OFFICE OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS ISSUES CALL FOR EMERGING ARTISTS FOR PUBLIC ART PROJECTS . DALLAS: The City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs has issued a call for emerging artists interested in working on new public art commissions. Up to fifty artists living within a 150 mile radius of Dallas will be selected for an Emerging Artist Pre-Qualified List. Emerging artists will be eligible for public art commissions of up to $50,000. Projects will be in parks, street right-of-ways, water utilities locations, and other public locations in 2015-2016. The Emerging Artist Pre-Qualified List will be maintained for two years from the date of selection. The deadline for submitting materials is October 30, 2014. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and are requested to create a free account and submit materials online via Call for Entry at https://callforentry.org/. The Call for Artists – Emerging Artists Pre-Qualified List is open to all artists with little or no experience with public art commissions. Applicants may work in any medium, have created a documented body of artistic work, and must demonstrate professional experience with an art exhibition, project, installation or event that was open to the public. All emerging artists must be committed to the creation of art in public places and be able and willing to work collaboratively with other artists, designers, architects, engineers, fabricators, city officials and staff. Undergraduate students enrolled in a college or university program at the time of application are not eligible. Additional information about the City of Dallas Public Art Program is available at dallasculture.org/publicArt.asp About The Public Art Program The Public Art Program works to enrich the quality of life for the citizens of Dallas and enhance the cultural appeal of the City to visitors by overseeing the integration of high-quality visual art into public spaces. The Program provides opportunities for local and regional artists as well as visual artists from around the globe through commissions of works of public art. The program also supports donations of public art to the City of Dallas that are subject to a review process for acceptance that includes members of the Public Art Committee and the Cultural Affairs Commission.
