CITY OF DEARBORN OUTLAWS NEW HOOKAH BARS FOR 6 MONTHS! The city council approved a 180 day moratorium yesterday that would prohibit smoking establishments from temporarily opening up in the city. City Council President Susan Dabaja and Councilman Mike Sareini voted against the resolution, but it still passed in a 5-2 vote. Last month The Arab American News exclusively reported that the city was looking to crackdown on hookah bars that were operating illegally due to loopholes in state laws. The city says it will use this time to conduct research to figure out how it can better manage and enforce rules in the future. The ban does not affect current businesses, including those that are currently operating illegally. Thoughts?
