CKRW Central Kitsap Republican Women Newsletter – February 2014 Upcoming Events: Monthly Meeting – February 13, 2014 – Cloverleaf, 1240 Hollis Street, Bremerton Guest Speaker – Michael Strube, Bremerton Planning Commission President’s Message – It’s February already! January has just been a blur. Hope everyone is staying warm. Just when that pesky Puxatuany Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter the temperature drops like a stone. LOL I don’t know about all of you but I am ready for spring. My garden is calling me……. The KCRP Lincoln Day Dinner is March 6, 2014 at the Kitsap Conference Center in Bremerton. This looks to be a fantastic LDD. Speakers include Jan Angel, State Senator; Kim Wyman, WA Secretary of State; Drew MacEwen, State House Representative from the 35th Leg District and Radio Talk show host Michael Medved. I have reserved a table and still have tickets available. Tickets are $65.00 each however if you are a PCO you get a special price of $45.00. There will be a Chairman’s Reception at 6:30 to meet all the guest speakers. Tickets for that event are $125.00 which includes dinner. General reception and dinner is at 7:00. CKRW is donating a basket to the KCRP for their silent auction. The theme for our basket is spring. If you have any items you would like to have included in the basket please bring them to the February luncheon. Joyia will be assembling the basket. Thank you Joyia! I attended the kick off for Ed Wolfe for commissioner campaign. It was wonderful to see so many of our members present. You can see pictures on our Facebook page. I also attended the Roanoke Conference in Ocean Shores. The conference was well attended and I saw a lot of old friends and made some new ones. I ran into our WFRW president, Roxanne Husmann. It was nice to chat with her. We were both impressed with the tech breakout sessions. Our newest member and candidate for the State Legislature in the 26th Michelle Downey-Caldier along with our newest state Senator Jan Angel participated in a panel discussion regarding women in politics. The discussion was well received. Members from many of the Peninsula District Clubs attended the PDC conference at the Oxford Suites. Speaker Patsy Excell from the WFRW brought us all up to speed on the PDC requirements. We should not have any more issues when donating to candidates campaigns. Thank you Jan Stump for organizing the conference. We have begun planning for the Spring Tea. Mary Bryant will have exciting news in her report at our February meeting. Geez I seem to be droning on…..LOL. I Hope to see all of you at the February Luncheon. We have changed our starting time to 12:00 to better accommodate our members. We will still gather at 11:30 but will start the meeting at noon. Please also note the new location. We are meeting at the Cloverleaf, 1240 Hollis Street, Bremerton.
