CLASS DESCRIPTIONS (VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE) HATHA This class uses postures and stretches in combination with the breath to develop flexibility and relaxation. There are many styles of Hatha Yoga. Some use a specific series of postures; others use a flow of movements, while some may use props such as blocks or belts to assist a posture or maximize a stretch. All styles of Hatha Yoga, however, encourage proper alignment of the body and bring balance, strength, and calmness to the practitioner. Our Hatha Yoga classes are based on the classic and ancient practices with attention to alignment and deeper layers of yoga. YIN Yin yoga invites stillness of mind and body with gentle poses that stretch the connective tissues of the body. Yin helps to soothe and relax the nervous system and prepares the mind and body for stillness and insight. Yin Yoga aims to increase flexibility in the low back, hips, pelvis, spine and shoulders. Yin is wonderful for increasing range of motion and help with the flow of energy in your body, and is the perfect complement to the more active, yang lifestyles we lead. HATHA FLOW Flow-based Hatha Yoga links the postures practiced in a regular Hatha class into a sequence of movements that “flow” with the breath in a more vigorous series. The flow involves moving from one posture to another with minimal rest in between. This class is practiced in a regular temperature room but the fluent movement creates natural heat in the body. Hatha Flow provides a strong cardiovascular workout and is best suited to those who have practiced Hatha yoga and are familiar with postures, transitions, inversions and Sun Salutations. Modifications can and will be provided for postures to invite accessibility as well as growth. Come connect to breath and go with the flow! HOT 26 Hot 26 combines 26 static postures systematically to work every muscle, gland and organ in the body. It is a sequence of compressions and stretches works your joints, muscles, ligaments, organs, tendons, glands and nerves. Using heat, you are able to go deeper and safer into the yoga poses and encourages your body to sweat, which helps you to release toxins. Although heat allows your body to become more flexible and also reduces the risk of injury, the main purpose of yoga is to strengthen your body and spine with the goal of creating union among the body, mind and spirit. HOT POWER Sweat, Surrender, Serenity!
