CLINTON VISIT CANCELLED By Genesis KETAN Former United Sates President Bill Clinton’s proposed visit to our shores has been cancelled. This information was received this morning through the Clinton Foundation PNG office via the administration office, who confirmed that Mr Clinton will in fact not be visiting at all. Mr Clinton was supposed to have arrived in the country this morning for a visit to the Goroka Family Clinic in Eastern Highlands Provincial Hospital. There it was proposed that Mr Clinton would visit an HIV lab and treatment centre facilitated and meet with expecting parents about antenatal care and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) services provided by the Clinton Health Access Initiative. This visit was intended to serve to highlight the work of the Clinton Foundation work in Asia-Pacific region in global health and improved access to medicines; climate change; and economic development. The Clinton Foundation PNG Office tells this newsroom that there was a timing problem that could not allow for Mr Clinton’s visit to the country as he is to deliver keynote remarks at the 20th International AIDS conference in Melbourne, Australia this week. Moreover, prior to that there were also some technical difficulties with his private jet. Meanwhile, at this moment it is unconfirmed whether Mr Clinton will in fact have his visit delayed to a later date but this is highly unlikely at this point says the Clinton Foundation local Office.
