CLON TO SALUTE SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES THIS EVENING – Friday June 20th Clonakilty is set to host the mother of all parties at 7.00pm this evening (Friday 20th) at Asna Square, when the achievements of the three Clonakilty Special Olympics Club athletes and the nine athletes from The Clonakilty COPE Foundation at last weekends Ireland Games will be celebrated in style. All are invited, particularly children, to Asna Square from 6.45pm onwards where there will be music entertaining the public. Bring along whistles and flags and anything to create a party atmosphere. At 7.00pm, the 12 athletes will arrive in style in open-top cars, and will be greeted by the Deputy Mayor Cionnaith Ó Súilleabháin, standing in for Mayor Colette Twomey who will be unavoidably absent from the occasion. There will be a few short speeches and then the party will continue with more music at the square. Lets come out and show our appreciation and admiration for a great bunch of people. Please spread the word in the meantime.
