CM announces package for Ghanta Ghar incident victims On the directives of the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, a Jirga of provincial government headed by PTI MPA from Peshawar city Shaukat Ali Yousafzai held successful negotiations with the affected traders’ association of Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) incident. The negotiations between the Jirga and traders remained continued for several hours on Saturday, which was followed by the acceptance of the three basic demands of the shopkeepers’ community and heirs of the victims of the incident. The accepted demanded included the conducting of impartial and transparent inquiry, announcement of relief package for died and injured persons and a meeting with chief minister. Under the relief package the government would give a financial assistance of Rs.1 million for each died and Rs.0.2 million for each injured shopkeeper respectively. While on the request of the Jirga, the affectees and Tajir Insaf Forum withdrew from the demand of the immediate arrest of the accused. However, both parties agreed on the arrests soon after the transparent investigations. On this occasion, the approval of the demands was made with consensus in the presence of the presidents of 60 bazaars associations including that Ghanta Ghar and Chowk Yadgar in the office of the president of Tajir Insaf Forum Shahid Khan. Shahid Khan however made it clear that they will not allow politics on the bodies of their martyrs, saying those who had blocked G.T. Road and staged protest demo has no relations with them or with the affectees. The fact, he said, is that their colleagues have been killed and injured in this tragedy and the FIR is also registered by them, but others started politics on it. He said that they are not doing politics and wanted justice. He said that in their meeting with Chief Minister scheduled for Sunday they will not do politics rather will talk for the redressel of the grievances of affectees and will talk on the factual rights and interests of the trading community. The chief minister has welcomed the negotiations and decisions taken by the Shaukat Yousafzai headed Jirga with the trading community and said that in his meeting with affectees, he would take them into confidence. He said that Ghanta Ghar tragedy was sorrowful incident, which had bereaved not only him rather the whole provincial cabinet. He said that they would not only redress their losses, but would also extend complete relief to the affectees, so the occurrence of such ugly incidents could not happen in future. He said that that they have no personal interest and only want to get the city rid of all nature of mafia to turn Peshawar into a dirt and diseases free, clean and poor friendly city on which the coming generations would feel proud.
