COACHING MOMENT: What was old is new again...PINBALL MACHINES and connecting with customers, the old school way. Who would have thunk that a game that I used to spend 5 cents per game in 1973-1976, would come back as extremely popular? My family owned barber shops and salons in South Florida. I used to work there on the weekends sweeping hair and getting Cuban and fish sandwiches for the customers waiting to get their hair cut/done. Between errands, I used to play the pinball machines for hours per day. Communicating with customers on a personal level is returning just like pinball machines. Playing pinball allows you to interact with the game on a physical level instead of hoping the video game reacts and computer programmers code games to what you really want to accomplish and your style of play. Like pinball, customers want this interaction of dealing with real people. Of course, Im not talking about AFTER the customer finds you on the Internet. Im more so talking about connecting with potential customers for the first time ON YOUR TERMS, BEFORE they find you on the Internet. It is likely that you are working with customers ON THEIR TERMS if they find you on the Internet. No problems here. Its still a customer. You most likely will get the sale if you stay in control to work on YOUR TERMS. Im just recommending that you use the old school approach in addition to the power of the Internet. modernpinballnyc/
