COLLAPSE OF THE NGF:beginning of the end for the North?I - TopicsExpress

COLLAPSE OF THE NGF:beginning of the end for the North?I had, hitherto current imbroglio, never bothered to reflect on the importance or otherwise of the Northern Governors Forum that now appears to be heading for autopsy as a fallout to the recent election of the Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum. My belief is the Governors that voted Amechi as Chairman did so out of strategic political calculations nd expediency; suffice it to say,not for spite or belligerence to the person of Mr President or the PDP.Firstly Jang is NOT A SALE ABLE COMMODITY even to Beroms of Plateau State. Here Is a person who has not only failed to maintain peace in his State bcos of religious nd tribal bigotry but has scuttled all entreaties in that direction. Given this CV no reasonable Northern Gov will elect him Chairman;if for nothing but fear of damaging their political profiles in the States nd diminishing the fortunes of their Parties come 2015.I am surprised PDP NWC saw otherwise.Secondly,a divided NGF means a weakened entity: NORTH.For as long as we do not see the need for tolerance in our diversity nd plugging all channels that keep tribes nd religions apart which the Governors are supposed to symbolise,we have FINALLY submitted ourselves to other blocks for the kill.A DIVIDED HOUSE CAN NEVER STAND.It still not too late to retreat.
